"Fruit Venders, Indianapolis Market, August 1908. Witness E.N. Clopper." View full size. Photograph by Lewis Wickes Hine. Scan from 5x7 glass plate negative.
Unless this is the old Tomlinson Hall, I don't think this is the Indianapolis City Market. The ceiling is too low and the trusses don't look right. If anything, I believe this is the other market that used to be located at the SE corner of S. New Jersey Street and South Street. That market appeared as a water color on the cover of the White Pages around 1983. The market was demolished shortly thereafter...
The City Market (as it is called now) is still standing and operating, but its future is in doubt.
