In the years before Palio this was the lobby of a furniture store. I think it was Saratoga Signature Interiors. I used to love to go browsing there because I got to wander through this fabulous lobby. Wish I could get in now. Maybe I'll have to go find a job at Palio.
At first I thought it was a set from The Loved One.
Jo Berry's history of Smith and his Pompeia reads like a T. Coraghessan Boyle novel. Such dreams of historical and personal grandeur, of a lasting legacy stretching the the ancient Romans to the modern Saratogians. . . quite moving.
It makes me doubly glad that the Gardner Museum remains intact, if one doesn't count the 1990 theft.
