I live in Nebraska in a house built in the 1920s. My room is in the attic (similar to the one in the picture) and it gets so cold up there in the winter! Of course, I am able to turn on one of two safe and efficient space heaters and cuddle under as many blankets as I like. These poor little kids were tough!
How very sad. I wonder if she got assistance for her eye--so easily fixed these days.
