Minneapolis, 1905. "Stone Arch Bridge, which carries railroad traffic over the Mississippi River." Panorama from three 8x10 glass negatives. View full size.
This bridge certainly endured better than the old I-35 bridge that was built a bit downriver.
It must be said. Flawless stitching work, Dave. The images are blended together perfectly.
Also amazing is the photographer's ability to keep the horizon flat each time he shifted the perspective. All while working with an 8x10 view camera and glass plates!
Another tricky part in a panorama is having objects that move while the camera is being reloaded. Those logs moving down stream would present one such challenge, not to mention the clouds!
This is a stunning panorama.
Swiveling around in the streetview photo provided in the comment by J W Wright in the post immediately preceding this one (Pillsbury Panorama: 1905) helps to position a viewer relative to both photos by locating the bridge just out of view to the right in the Pillsbury pano. Of course, the buildings seen in both photos also help, but the stone bridge clicked it all into place for me.
