A colorized version of this National Photo glass plate: Washington, D.C., circa 1921. "National Fruit Co. -- Eleventh Street N.W." View full size.
Some interesting info on Berry & Whitmore Jewelers. The business is still going.
That color photo could have been taken yesterday.
Bah! I think not. That's clearly Daniel Day Lewis working the cart in the middle.
I just wonder which of those shadows on the sidewalk IS Lamont Cranston?
I suspect the color of the cobble stones is way off. I've never seen any that were a black/grey, and there's plnty still around my haunts. I suppose I'me over critical of late having seen the efforts that went into Peter Jackson's film "They Shall Not Grow Old".

Who says there's no such thing as a time machine! This colorized photo is absolutely amazing! From the scuffs on the woman's shoes to the smile on the vegetable peddler, it just comes to life!
This is the view from the northeast corner of 11th and F Streets NW looking west across 11th Street. Amazingly, the facades of the buildings are all still standing.
Colorizing these photos gives them an immediacy that brings the people and places in them right back to life. I wonder if the man with the pushcart spoke to the young lady in the white hat.
I know I'm in the minority on this but I love colorized photos.
