June 1942. Greenbelt, Maryland. "Grandma Taylor blows out the candles on her 83rd birthday cake while her daughter, Mrs. McCarl, and grandson look on." Photo by Marjory Collins for the Office of War Information. View full size.
Grandma Taylor is Mary Martha (Yarnell) Taylor, and her daughter is Delpha Maxine (Taylor) McCall (1898-1984).
A quick search on ancestry.com led me to findagrave.com, which has a nice little bio.
Plastic cutlery, solo cups, Styrofoam plates, folding lawn chairs, etc. A beautiful table setting in a beautiful outdoor setting.
I'd imagine green jadeite color. Appears to be heavy glass.
Beautiful.
Such a great photo! That woman experienced many huge moments in human history, including humankind-altering wars and giant leaps forward in technology. The Civil War, WWI, WWII, electricity, radio, autos, flight, modern medicine, civil rights - the list goes on n' on.
