January 25, 1955. "Becton Dickinson, Rutherford, New Jersey. Mr. Becton's office. Fellheimer & Wagner, client." Gottscho-Schleisner photo. View full size.
We had cork floor tile in many areas of my childhood home; that's what this looks like. Very popular in those days, would cost a fortune today! Warm, soft and quiet underfoot, very low maintenance and durable. My mother loved it!
Marvelous cantilevered planters. I guess you can slide up one of those chairs, lean over, and munch away.
Henry Becton may have later given up his 50's trademark bow tie, but when he died at 95 in 2009 he was not only a giant in American medical supplies, he was the oldest living former member of the Yale Glee Club and their well-known singing group, the Whiffenpoofs, who current members traveled to his summer home in Maine to sing him off to an eternal syringe-free rest
Those vertical plastic panels were used in Perry White's office on the old "Adventures of Superman" TV show.
From the color era of that show, we see that the panels were blue-green.
You would use Dickinson, the last name, with Mr.
[But not in a case such as this, when the office is that of Mr. Henry P. Becton. -tterrace]
