It's delightful to see these girls having fun. And I just love the fancy stockings they're wearing.
The lady on the right could be a young Marjorie Main.
Both of these women are wearing leather shoes, so there's no way they're going into the water, especially the lady on the right. Neither of them are young, and they appear to be enjoying themselves thoroughly.
The bather seems more heavily clad than the potential dunkee.
The photographer - maybe, that's why the horizon is tilted?
While I totally understand that that's how ladies in those days dressed for the beach, I can also understand the resister's reluctance to get wet.
If she was to totally immerse herself in the water, she would probably be soaking wet the whole day!
She couldn't remove any of the wet clothing, and the sand would stick to her wet dress like glue.
