San Francisco circa 1921. "Marmon dual-cowl landaulet at Spreckels Mansion." A car that looks like it's been around the block a few times. Latest entry in the Shorpy Catalogue of Creaky Conveyances. 5x7 glass negative. View full size.
I love the pop-ups for vents... just in case you somehow aren't getting enough air in that thing. It is great to see a car with a real, working landau roof, none of these fake landau bars here.
Those "eyelid" shades on the headlights are almost always green—about the shade of a banker's lamp, but they came in other colors, too, as evidenced by this 1912 Cadillac spotted at Hershey in 2013.
That passenger side front fender looks like it was reshaped with torch, hammer and lead. When I was a kid there still a few guys around who could do that. They made fun of the guys using Bondo that had far less skill. Now the Bondo guys are the last skilled guys in the trade while most Bodymen simply throw away damaged panels and bolt on new ones.
Just the car you need if you detest back seat drivers; out of sight, out of mind.
I would say that Junior rode her hard and put her away wet - judging from those fluid deposits on the pavement.
Mr Spreckels isn't going to be happy about the mess that bucket of bolts is leaving on his driveway.
Vintage rat-rod, Kookie's dad's ride.
