Safe enough for the kids is a modern invention, probably from the 1970s.
Kids were pretty rugged before that.
Haynes built a quality car, albeit hardly a scintillating one. The opera windows must be a palliative for the claustrophobia doubtless induced in the rear sea passengers when side curtains were erected.
