Sidney Pressey was unsuccessful with his patent for a self-scoring multiple-choice machine in the 1920s, getting only one company (Welch Scientific) to market it in 1930. B.F. Skinner was much more successful in the 1950s. The picture shows one of his earliest models. This pic shows Pressey with one of the prototypes and one of the more compact Welch models (only $15!).
