1959 -- China Lake US Naval Ordnance Test Station California.
That's the way we "Kept Them Flying" by using that system to keep track of various aircraft parts among other things.
Our goal was not to have any Aircraft Out Of Commission Parts (AOCP) and heaven help any airman whose duty it was to keep track of altimeters and didn't have at least one back order going when an active plane was grounded because of a faulty altimeter.
When a plane did go AOCP we had to get on the telex to check all Naval Stations in the 12th Naval Station to see if anyone had one in stock and if they did it would be dispatched to us with as much care as a human heart is accorded by today's transportation services.
