The Cumberland Club was a men’s club on the corner of Walnut and Clinch. The bell tower in the background is the Second Presbyterian Church, on the southwest corner of Walnut and Church. A history of the church says that it was built starting in 1906 and was dedicated in 1908.
He looks to be digging out the dirt for a poured sidewalk.
