The orange building with the balcony over the ice cream shop is owned by Flagler College. My sister lived in the apartment over the ice cream shop for about 25 years and worked as a local realtor there. She was able to rent the apartment for a ridiculously low price and always loved watching the parades from her balcony. Sadly, she developed early onset Alzheimer's disease in 2009 at 54 years of age and had to be placed in a care facility. My husband and I were there in April and there was a lot of construction going on in the apartment and I've wondered what they ended up doing with it. Thank you for bringing back the bittersweet memories of happier times.
Ericpolo's "current view" is facing south while the 1910 photo is facing north based upon the shadows. The building with the coral-pink balcony (left) is the one where we see the young man peeking around the corner of the door in the 1910 photo.

Unbearably hot and humid eight months a year in those pre-AC days (especially in one's Sidney Greenstreet white wool suit and boiled shirt), yet the mood this photograph conveys suggests that every weathered board and square inch of plaster could tell a million compelling tales.
Proud new owner of a tick-tocky Ingersoll Dollar Watch and some new cologne announces to the group assembled around the water trough, "If you hear anything or smell anything, it's me!"
