Three new trucks and already lost one lamp, one license plate and another one barely on. Hruumph.
It appears that the machinery to raise the bed for dumping is contained in the gears above the drive chain. I would assume that there was a clutch to disconnect the drive wheels and power the dump mechanism which from looking at the raised dump was probably a rack and pinion setup.
