When I was a little girl in the late fifties, ladies and girls would wear "sunsuits" that were made of woven cotton fabric and covered a little more skin than a bathing suit would. I think that's what these ladies are wearing.
There were a lot of great things about 1940's fashion. This is not one of them.
Must be a new style - I don't think I've never seen the "Ankle Socks, Swim Suit & Welding Goggles" look before!
