I suspect that this house was actually in use as a home. Many people from that part of the country enter by the back door, so the steps at the front aren't needed. Its a good thing too because that first step would be a doozy!
A stunningly beautiful example of the Early Classical Revival style; even in its decayed state. The shaped columns are delightful. What a gem! Larger examples of the style can get ungainly.
Now that is spooky. Why would someone be in that house. Ooh, love a mystery.
