Elsewhere on Shorpy, two Esther Bubley photos from 1943 ("Indianapolis" and "Terminal Lunch") show the Union Terminal in its later state as a bus station. It was replaced by a new station in the mid-1960s.
If I could ply my trade back then gilding all those business names on the windows, I'd be smoking big fat cigars and driving around in my chauffeured carriage. Also, those hoardings on the far right are a real treat to my sign painters eye.
