Richmond, Calif., circa 1912. "First Wesley Methodist Episcopal Church." Waiting for stucco. 6x8 glass negative by Cheney Photo Advertising Co. View full size.
Could not find a match on a quick search, but my guess is that is a Maxwell.
According to the Oakland Tribune, the church was located at Ninth St. and Nevin Ave. in Richmond. In the article announcing the Feb. 22, 1914 date for its consecration ceremonies, the Tribune stated that "the church cost $25,000 and is one of the finest places of worship in the County." Today, there is a hospital at that corner.
A cheaper alternative to stained glass where broken and scrap pieces of glass of differing colors were melted and used for windows. Usually in churches of the turn of the last century.
