Frankie's friends with their cars in front of the Club Slipper on Bourbon Street, July 29, 1948. Names of his friends were already on the photograph. He was my first cousin but quite a few years older, I did not know his friends then. This picture is in my possession. View full size.
Also notice the Venetian blinds in the rear window of the Buick. Bullet lamps and eggshell planters were yet to come.
1947-1948 Buick Super
1949 Mercury convertible
1947 Plymouth
I love these cars with all their accessories and even the prominent grilles on the Mercury and Buick. My favorite is the 47 Plymouth with the big windshield visor and even a pair for the headlights. Also, look at the rain guards on the door windows of the Buick. Allowed you to crack your windows for air even during a rain storm.
Today, Frankie and the gang would be posing in front of Larry Flynt's Barely Legal club.
